Ladies Day Hat Tips from Lina Stein
7 Jul 2010
TIP NO.1
Lina Stein, designer of the winning hat in the Anthony Ryan’s Best Hat Competition on Ladies Day 2009 gives her advice on choosing a headpiece for the Galway Races
We asked top milliner Lina Stein for her advice on choosing a headpiece for the races
“Ladies should feel confident and comfortable when wearing a headpiece. It should be well made, (preferably by hand!!) and not be overloaded with trimmings (feathers etc...)
-Less is more…..
-Should be balanced
-It doesn't have to match perfectly with the clothes. In my opinion, the hat should be the statement piece and the clothes should accessorise (most people think the opposite!!)
-Clean lines and good balance of colours ...textures ...
- it should reflect a sense of humour as well.
as Stephen Jones said, “ a hat is the extension of the personality”….”
