Make Up tips for Ladies Day from Sorcha Roddy of Lancome Ireland

Make-Up Advice & Tips for Ladies Day……
Sorcha Roddy, Lancôme’s National Make-Up artist is pleased to share tips and advice to help best-dressed hopefuls get to top of the best-dressed list with judges at this year’s Galway Races Ladies Day celebrity judges.
Complexion:
Sorcha advises: “Rule number one on a special occasion, such as Ladies Day – to achieve a flawless complexion does not mean masking your skin with a full coverage makeup. Choose a hydrating foundation with a radiant finish, such as Lancôme Teint Miracle and your skin will automatically appear fresher and more radiant. You’ll achieve a serene, natural look and your appearance photographs will be flawless!”
Application Tips:
• Most important is to choose the right tone of foundation, know if your complexion is warm or cool? Your Lancôme make-up expert will advise you on the shade to match your skin tone but if in doubt a good way of telling, if you’re not sure is the vain test! Look at the veins in your wrists, if you have blue veins – you have a pink undertone in your skin, which means your cool skin tone and if you have green veins – you have a warm skin tone.
• When applying foundation use a foundation brush and a small amount of product. Start by working on the centre of your face and blend out ward to the edges as this will make the foundation look more seamless and prevent it going into the hair line.
• If any areas you feel need more foundation use your brush with tapping movements to the area instead of sweeping the foundation everywhere.
• A final good tip to help your make-up last throughout the day is to use primer like Lancôme La Base pro, which will your make-up’s longevity.
Eyes:
When it comes to the eyes Sorcha advises: “Never match your eye shadow with your outfit! It’s a big no-no! Concentrate more on your eye colour and how to enhance your eyes. For women who have green or brown eyes, pink and plums look incredible on their eyes. And for ladies with blue eyes, earthy shades look great, choose shades like terracotta’s, mushroom browns, gold’s and taupe’s.”
Application Tips:
• For the eyes if you’re trying to achieve a smoky look, use brown shades instead of black sometimes this can look softer yet still sexy.
• Define the eyes with black kohl pencil and use the kohl in your water line too. This really helps to enhance the gaze.
• Brows should also be defined in the creation of this look as eye Brows frame your eyes and not only give them shape but an immediate lift.
• Use La Crayon Sourcils pro pencil to fill in the brows were need and set them with the wax.
• Finally, you don’t always need full on false lashes; just a mascara that focuses on giving you volume, but more importantly length. Lips
And finally Sorcha advises: “And ladies always check your teeth for lipstick and never forget to reapply. Also make your statement with either your eye look or lip look, never both!”
Application Tips:
• Apply your liner all over the lips to make your lipstick stay on.
• Apply the lipstick with a brush, blot and apply more! Blot the inner top lip and bottom lip and this will stop your lip stick going on your teeth!
